Lectures promoting 'Green Olympics' attract 100,000

12 March 2008--Attracting more than 100,000 residents, lectures delivered by the "Green Olympic, Green Action" promotional group aimed at promoting the concept of a "Green Olympics" have become a hit in the Olympic host city.

It was revealed at a symposium where up to 30 experts and scholars set off rounds of hot debate on how to protect the fragile environment.

A Green Olympics is on the city's agenda. With only some 150 days away left before the Olympic Games, 350 lectures have been delivered, attracting more than 100,000 local residents.

Audience members included cadres, students, community residents and people from all walks of life, including cadres.

In addition to Beijing, 15 other municipalities and provinces, including Shanghai, Tianjin and Inner Mongolia, also held lectures in an effort to promote the concept.

With an aim to spread the Olympic spirit and "Green Olympics" concept, the lectures will focus on environmental protection using high-tech skills and mobilizing more people to raise their awareness of environmental protection.
